Allergies can indeed cause pink eye or eye irritation. Usually, if you are allergic to pollen, dust, grass, or so on, your eyes will get pink. It is called conjunctivitis. It is one of the types of eye infections. There is an inflammation in the conjunctiva area of your eyes. It is the moistening tissue located in the eyelid. When this part is inflamed., the white part of the eyeball is going to be pink. Regular pink eye irritation is caused by the swelling of the eye blood vessels because of the sun, dryness, shampoo, dust, chlorine, drug, alcohol, prolonged reading, prolonged computer and gadget usage, and even lack of sleep. It is probably the most dangerous type because it is not only contagious but also capable to shut your eyes temporarily. The last type is the mechanical irritation conjunctivitis. It is not merely caused by allergies but allergies plus irritation such as contact lenses, smoke, and strange thing inside the eyes.

  1. What to Do When Getting Pink Eye?

When you have pink eye and you know you have allergies, just calm down and think where you might get exposed by the allergen. If the swelling is bad and the watery discharge is nonstop, you should seek medical help immediately. But first, make sure that you do not touch your eyes with your hands. If you need to bathe your eyes, use cold water and wet rag to do that. Do not do that with your hands. If you do not have any allergies, the pink eye is probably because of minor irritations mentioned above. Just try to wipe your eyes with cold water or try to use eye drops to soothe the itching and pain.
